Yahaan

I don't remember how I missed this one...turns out it is a must see for all. 'Yahaan' talks of the most basic need of humans- Love.

The setting is of modern day Kashmir with its troubles of insurgency and terrorism and counter-terrorism efforts of the army and how amidst all these an army officer falls in love with a Kashmiri girl. The way the story has been handled by the director is appreciable. Even though it is a story of two persons in love, the message goes way beyond. There is a line in the movie where the terrorists are scared...scared because the story of these two lovers would give a new path for peace in the valley. In a very suttle but effective way the director has conveyed what he wanted to. No matter how much the nations talk, no matter what the so called high command thinks, it is after all the people of the land who make the place what it is.

Read this today and was forced to reason it out. but failed! Do we have an answer?

The movie raises a similar question and has an appeal to all those who have taken up arms to fight for their own self-justified cause, to think again and reason it out.

Oh and the music is just superb. Lyrics by Gulzaar hence no further words needed :-).
